Julieann Campbell, author of Setting The Truth Free, wins the Christopher Ewart-Biggs Memorial Prize!

We are delighted to announce that Setting The Truth Free by Julieann Campbell is joint winner of the 2013 Christopher Ewart-Biggs Memorial Prize!

Julieann Campbell, author of Setting The Truth Free

Julieann was awarded this honour at a presentation ceremony last night in Iveagh House with Olivia O'Leary. She is joint winner with Douglas Murray, author of Bloody Sunday: Truth, lies and the Saville Inquiry.

Julieann has this to say, “I am over the moon! It is a great honour to be awarded this prize and it is obviously a massive recognition for the families’ efforts throughout the long campaign. This is not just an achievement for me but for everyone in Derry who contributed to the fight for truth. This is their story.”

Liberties Press MD, Seán O’Keeffe also said,  “We at Liberties Press are delighted that Julieann Campbell's Setting the Truth Free has been awarded this prestigious honour. The book is an important work on a key and devastating passage in recent Irish history, and Julieann has skilfully weaved a moving, coherent narrative of events. The publication is in itself in keeping with the cross-border ethos of the award: the book is the product of a Derry-born author, a London-born publisher and a Dublin-based press, and was launched in Derry (by Christy Moore), Dublin (by former Taoiseach John Bruton) and London (by human rights lawyer Gareth Peirce). We hope the award helps a new generation of readers gain a better understanding of the events of Bloody Sunday and its aftermath.”
