This survival guide by Lisa O'Callaghan is a collection of observations, experiences and support for those coping with unemployment - from dealing with the threat of redundancy, joblessness, the day-to-day reality of finding job hunting and to the journey back to work.

Surviving the Axe guides the reader into how to get back into the job market; use contacts; work from home effectively; get agencies on side; create a high-impact CV specifically for those with a mixed bag of experience and, of course, handle those difficult questions at an interview. Providing invaluable advice, the book describes the unique world of unemployment and offers practical ideas on managing limited finances, maintaining well-being and self-confidence, as well as making free time matter.

About the author: Lisa O'Callaghan is a marketing professional with twelve years management experience, within both large and small business sectors. She experienced redundancy five years ago during the telecoms downturn and spent a number of months out of full-time work. She began documenting her experiences and those of her affected colleagues during a creative writing program she attended during her time out, primarily as a way of helping both herself and those around her to deal with the aftermath of redundancy. Lisa now is a marketing manager for a large telecoms organisation.
